The other day, I noticed that the driver side door on my 03 Montero stuck a bit as I closed it. Since then, the door no longer stays open. I looked at the hinge where it connects to the door and the bolts were a bit loose. I suppose there is something inside the door that pinches down on the hinge to keep it in the open position and whatever it is, is now broken. Anyone else have this problem? Easy to fix? Any help is appreciated.

 

door check is the culprit. not very expensive and easy to replace.
