I'm a relatively new owner of a 1989 Montero (3.0). A newer engine was installed about 20-30K miles ago. Overall mileage is about 150K.

My first questions is this. The dipstick seems very difficult to read. The bottom of mine basically seems to get covered in oil due to the design. I've had numerous other vehicles and never an issue. Is this a normal thing with these that reading an accurate oil level is tough?

What's the oil capacity of the 3.0 engine?

 

Should take 4 qts on oil change. About 4.6 for a dry engine.
