Default 1995 montero engine swap

I am a proud owner of a 1995 montero with 3.0 single cam. I was wondering if i could swap out the 3.0 that is busted up with a 3.5 dohc. And if i could then what i would require for the swap

thanks,
alan

Anything's possible with enough time and $$$.

Seriously, you'll need to swap the...
1) Engine
2) Wiring Harness

And also probably the...
3) ECU
4) & possibly the tranny bell housing.

I have the time and some money, the thing i want to know is if its just a drop in swap or a lot of fabrication. I just want to make it clear that the 3.5 would be of the same year, so i would imagine that it might work. I have searched the web for info on this swap but i have found nothing.

thanks,
alan

Do you have a doner vehicle? They're not necessarily easy to find.

You may also need to swap diff's (front and rear) as they are different on the SR model which has the 3.5DOHC engine.

May be cheaper & more reliable to buy an SR outright since they go for roughly 5k-10k these days.
