1997 Montero Sport 3.0L problems
I just bought a 97 montero sport as a daily commuter, and it has a few problems i need to correct asap. first thing is it failed emissions test for a transmission range sensor fault, the guy said to drive it for about 120 miles and bring it back...i did and it failed again, so that needs replacing.
second is its leaking oil from what appears to be the passenger side exhaust manifold, every morning when i go to get in the car there is about a nickle size oil spot on the ground. I thought it was coming from the oil filter because it was really loose but after tightening it up and wiping stuff down, i still see oil by the exhaust manifold.
next is some electrical problem, the battery volt gauge bounces all the way by 16V. i tested the battery with the car off read 12.5v, ok thats good, started it up and tested again...15.8V. the alternator seeems to be doing its job so im thinking it may be the voltage regulator. sometimes when i'm driving the volt gauge stops bouncing and stays steady at 12v but then without me doing anything it jumps all the way back up again.
any advice or comments on any of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the other issues but the oil leak is common and easy to fix. Use the search funtion for rear cam plug seals or o-rings and you'll find several DIY articles like this:
