Default 1998 Montero Sport LS (JAWS)

JAWS is my scuba diving rig and has 168k miles; Properly maintained throughout its life (I have all the maintenance records). The suspension is old and tired; it just needs a good upgrade kit. Any suggestions where I get get a good upgrade kit (all new bushings, shocks, springs, etc.)? An inch or two of lift would be nice.

Many thanks for any help.

I can say with experience that if all you want/need is an inch or two of lift, get some taller tires and/or larger diameter wheels. As far as suspension components goes, there's not much in the way of "high quality" anymore, considering our sports are 24 years old, but I have actually had good luck with ultra power brand stuff. As far as kits go, all bets are off, I just purchased everything separately when I overhauled my front end. I can tell you that having the control arm bushings replaced can cost more than just getting new control arms if you have someone else do it. If you are doing this yourself, keep in mind that you must disassemble the brake lines in order to do anything with the upper control arms. In my case I had to cut the brake lines and splice in new ones because the hardware turned to mush as soon as I put a flare nut wrench on it.

If you aren't doing the work yourself, I wouldn't worry about buying parts, most places will want to source their own parts for the work anyways.

Edit:
Get Bilstein shocks if you can, these are very nice.
