1998 Montero Suspension Lift
Hello All!
I have a 1998 Montero that has just ended it's daily-driver status (I have it since new, and just got to 109k miles), since I got my wife a new 2008 XLS Outlander.
Now, I have the truck back for myself, and plan on converting it to an "expedition" truck; plan on roff tent, winch, etc....
Now, my first question is, I know you can tweak the original suspension for a lift and heard it's done via the torsion bars. I haven't been able to find anything on the 'net for this.
Can someone point me out in the right direction?
Thanks!
Jorge

RE: 1998 Montero Suspension Lift
yes u can lift it by tweaking the torsion bar.
however only the front part will be lifted.
u need a complete lifting kit and new set of suspension.
search for example on the net.
or u can try

this is Malaysian offroader site.

RE: 1998 Montero Suspension Lift
There is a great bunch of Montero addicts at this site - www.4x4wire.com- and have seen this topic covered many times there.
The name Old Man Emu rings a bell. And I also know you need to decide if you are thinking suspension lift or body lift... and since I have yet to see PR, what type of terrain are you expecting on your excursions? Climbing, mud, rocks?

RE: 1998 Montero Suspension Lift
Thanks, guys! Found a nice webpage that although directed to the Montero Sport, it is the same concept for the Montero front suspension.
Now, on a mission to find a 1998 Montero Service Manual... holy crap, is that getting to be difficult... not evan a Haynes or Chilton manual out there!
