Hi, "inherited" my father in law's Montero (NOT THE SPORT) 1998 SR with the 3.0 24v, I understand it was sold in Guam and Puerto Rico, the problem I'm having is that when looking online for parts like plugs, wires etc. I can't find this model anywhere, the only one listed is the 3.5. Are the parts the same? Or what other car has this engine so I can make a proper search? Thanks.

 

I would imagine it's the same engine in the montero sport. My brother has a 02 sport with the 3.0.

 

Try to find international parts distributors. One that comes to mind is www.partsouq.com There, you will find proper part numbers on their diagrams. You don't have to buy from them, but you might be able to figure out OEM Mitsubishi part numbers. Then all you need is your friendly Google to find same part nearby. The part interchange should be pretty close to any Monteros sold in US in the same years.
