Default 1999 Montero Coil Dead

I recently bought a 1999 Montero Sport XLS 2wd 3.0. I bought it not running. It wouldnt spark. I scanned the computer and had random cylinder misfire and two tranny codes. I replaced the ignition module and now it runs. One coil does not fire. I have power to the coil but no pulse. I replaced the ignition module again to eliminate it as the source. Same coil not getting pulse. Whats the odds on the ecm being bad?

Is it common for ecm to fail on these vehicles?

Try the transistor in the intake manifold. i just had coil pack for 3 & 6 go out and that fixed the problem.

Is that the part at top of manifold that has two plugs?

I bought a computer also and found the truck would not start. I would have to get it re-flashed at the dealer to work. the dealer wanted $110 to do it here.

Got it to today and it runs perfect now.

The one I bought had the same number as the one I removed.
