Default 2000 Montero Endeavor (Full Size) ALARM making me nuts!

So I had the engine rebuilt and it's still having a tick tick tick issue.... that is another thread though (feel free to message me with thoughts, I think they put in the lash adjusters wrong).

Anywhoo, I now have to push the red button to start the car. The LED doesn't light up or flash, and the alarm does not sound. I'm thinking the constant hooking and unhooking the battery has caused some sort of damage.

The mechanic told me they played around with the alarm - pressing the button while hooking up the battery, having the key in either ON or ACCESSORY positions, etc.

What gives? I just want the damn alarm back and to be able to start car without pushing the button while turning the key.

2000 FULL SIZE MONTERO ENDEAVOR EDITION.

My issue was random alarming/ failure to start - You might try this: do it exactly as outlined - mine had only 2 remotes programmed, leaving 2 memory slots open - caused various issues

Default Emergency Push Button

Cannot locate the alarm ECU or this button. Looked everywhere. So fustrated. No remotes working (only one I have has had a dead battery for LONG TIME), no lights flash, nothing. Found the manual in glove box, followed directions - nothing.

On mine, "the button" is the red flashing led on the dash left of the steering wheel
(first time I'd seen this, I'm no stranger to alarm systems)
