Default 2001 Montero 3.0 Overheating badly..

Montero Sport, ES 3.0 L 4x4

I first noticed I had problems when I visited family in California. It was well in the 100's and I was idling at a stoplight when the temp gauge hit the "H" on the dash. I pulled off into a parking lot to check out the problem. I opened the hood to notice that there was a lot of fluid coming out of the coolant reservoir. I shrugged it off as overflow.. it was a hot day and all. I let it cool for a while, and it started to just get hot at idling in traffic. Seemed to go away when I got on the highway though..

I went on my way back home to the midwest and while I was in Utah (In the middle of nowhere of course) it started to overheat on the highway. I thought this was weird because I had JUST changed the thermostat and fluids AND just had a tune up. I also changed the radiator cap. I sat on the side of the road, filling my reservoir up with coolant and continued to no avail. I got to a small town with an O'Reilly's and they suggested I try some of this additive in my radiator. I was so excited to just have a quick fix to get home.. without really thinking I added it all in and it seemed to work fine.. Until I was going 75 down the highway with my AC on. Smoke started to billow through the vents and into my face. I pulled off quickly and opened the hood. A five inch crack in the head of my radiator was the culprit. So after a few days of hotels and charity work from my church I had a new radiator.

Everything seemed to be just fine, I went over a large mountain coming out of Salt Lake and it got up to about 3/4 but nothing terrible. I even made it over the continental divide without a hitch. I thought my problems were solved with a new radiator..

I'm home now, and I was driving to the store when I heard a large "Thunk" in the motor area when I turned on my A/C. Then I noticed it would get hot just driving around the corner.. and now my heater won't blow hot air.. also a large pool of coolant has formed underneath my passenger tire.. I just checked the very top radiator hose leading into the engine and it's full. It's so full it's bulging around where the metal clamps are that hold it all together.. I checked my oil to see if it was a head issue, and the oil looks fine. also, no white smoke.

What the heck is going on? Is it my water pump? I used to be able to hear water surging through the system (behind the dash) when I had shut off the engine. What about the fan? Should you be able to turn it when its off? Its able to move around, it has some resistance but not much.

This is my first car I've ever bought. I saved up so much to get it, the used car dealer said it was Mechanically sound.. ha! Never buy a used car in Wheat Ridge Colorodo.. Just sayin!

Any help is appreciated, I don't have a manual sadly..

sounds like the "additive" has plugged your heater core and you have a leaking head gasket
