I am currently having problems with a 2002 Montero Sport XLS 3.5L no start.


It seems to only happen when engine is hot.

When it happens;

you can hear sound, 1 click from starter ( this is a new starter and battery, and starter relay, and ignition switch )

when you put car into reverse or park, you can hear a weird humming sound, and this also seems to manipulate the clicking coming from the starter.

is it a bad neutral safety switch?

The problem seems to be when engine is hot and intermittent.

It was not starter, starter relay, battery, or ignition switch.


I keep finding horn fuses blown.


I suspect the horn fuse/horns are causing a short while unplugged which is activating the alarm/anti theft system. When this happens, ONLY a jump from another car will get me going on.

My solution is to fix the airbag switch or add an inline switch through where the horn fuse goes.
