2003/2004 montero sport reliable?
Hi, I'm thinking of buying a used 2003/2004 montero sport, I have /03 corolla but I just like the suv, it looks like the new 07 outlander/lancer evo
here are my questions
is it reliable?
are they gas guzzlers?,
do they require a 60K miles timing belt replacement?,
is the service at the mitsubishi dealer expensive? (and what I mean by expensive is going over 400$)
when buying a used montero sport, is there anything that I should look for (in the service records)?
are they good for off roading with the 4wd?
thanks in advance for your answers.

RE: 2003/2004 montero sport reliable?
Yes they are reliable. (assuming it has been properly maintained)
No they are generally ok on gas
Yes they do require a 60k timing belt repalcement for safety although they are designed to take 100k the manual says 60k recomended
The service at a mitsu dealer is expensive... but not $400 lol.
You should look for any smoke from the exhaust, any undercarrage damage (rust included), any mayo under the oil cap, if the oil cap smells of gas.... if it has any of those... then walk away! If you wipe the oil off the dipstick and its black then it needs an oil change...
Yes they are fairly good off roaders. They are no high end Jeep or Hummer... but u know... they are decent.
