Start calling your junk yards. 10k for a transmission just tells me they can't be bothered.

If you want to put a new OEM transmission in, look into all the online resources. Even with shipping, you'll most likely be under 10k.

ps my brother in law is a mechanic but he doesn't really fiddle with trannys tho, but he said he will help me as much as he can

I don't think I would try it with my DD, but with a mechanic by your side...perhaps.

swapping out a tranny is a ****-easy job.
If you have the tools to do it, go right ahead.

Agreed! However, I think the OP was asking about repairing/rebuilding his existing transmission in his last post. That is a bit more involved than a straight up swap.

well ive searched everywhere and there is no used trannys for sale, and spending 6000 dollars is just plain idiotic for tranny.

so the only option i have is to rebuild it.
but i was thinking how bad could it possibly be to rebuild it my self?

any advise would be greatly appreciated

I was looking for some unrelated parts for my Monty and found a wrecking yard in Northeast PA that has an '03 that's wrecked. Front end damage. Can't remember name, but they do have an Ebay store.
