2003 montero sport spark plug replacement question
In the top tube it’s kinda thick, like if you spray painted it then
wiped it with your finger when it’s wet, that’s what you get when you wipe it. The bottoms 6 hole area it’s mainly just gold to black colored and don’t get any residue off when you wipe it .

It's not going to hurt to wipe off the wet stuf. Unfortunately it will not last. It sounds like you're getting significant blowby from pistons and that is pushing atomized engine oil into the plenum. The good thing is - your PCV system is working
Ok thanks, hopefully it won’t get worse down the road. I am stuck in putting it all back together as I want to be sure I have everything put a key together beneath the plenum before I put the plenum back on , the only thing I can’t figure out is where the hose comes from that connects to the passenger side back side of the valve cover. The straight small tube on the valve cover connects to a rubber hose which I don’t know where that is , where does the other end of that hose go to ? I think it’s called the blow back hose in searching diagrams online - thanks again
I believe there is a soft crossover hose between two valve covers. If I'm wrong about that and there is only one hose outlet on the back of passenger valve cover, then that one goes to a connector on the rubber part of intake manifold (between MAF and throttle body)
Turns out you were right on both , there’s a hose that goes from one cover to the other and the one I was looking for on the passenger side cover back side that hose goes to a nipple on the air box corrugated hose
thanks
thanks
So I got the spark plugs changed and valve covers and seals changed all fired up perfect however there is a small amount of grey blue smoke coming off exhaust manifold area where the oxygen sensor is on the passenger side and the check engine soon light came on. Thinking it must be just a little oil left on that area burning off ? Can’t imagine the cover gasket leaking I was very careful in putting back on and tightening to 30 inch pounds , don’t know where else it could be coming from , not a huge amount of smoke and I did change the seals at the back of the engine with the o ring gasket about 5k miles ago
