Default 2003 Montero Timing Belt

Hi,
Sorry for my ignorance. Just have my timing belt replaced at 60K Miles. How do I know if the dealer replaced the belt cause I don't see any new belt in the engine bay. Please tell me where to look. Thank you.

The timing belt is hidden behind a cover...it's not something you notice like serpentine belts. The only way would be to remove the cover and check, or ask your dealer for the old one back before they change it.

You could take it to a different garage and ask them to look and see if it looks new.

what is with you people? Do you honestly think that someone just took your money and didnt do anything to your car?

If so, I know why our youth is so screwed up. If you dont trust your tech, dont take your car to him/her.
otherwise, realize this... Fixing a car is, in fact NOT the easiest thing to do on the planet. If it were, you could do it yourself.
You may have to take it on faith that you are not being screwed by every person you meet for everything you have.
the end.

I understand what you mean, though the owner may have been a bit curious to see what was replaced. I know I wouldn't pay $1000 just to wonder if the work was actually done...nor would I ask for an opinionfrom that shop.

Next time justask that they return the old parts.
