Default 2008 Pajero LWB, Changes Gears In Tiptronic Early

Ijust realised that in Tiptronic mode, my 2008 Pajero is changing gears much before the redline.

I was climbing a monster dune and halfway up, the gear changed from 1st to 2nd by itself, at 5000rpm (redline is at 6500rpm).

I was in Tiptronic and 4H.

Is there a way I can keep it in 1st longer so I can continue climbing? I cannont tap it back to 1st until rpm is less than 2000rpm.

Cheers!

First off, I know nothing about your Pajero. I am just giving a response based on my interpretation.

Maybe the tiptronic function was not made for "off-road" habits. I would think the tiptronic system isn't sure how to handle a steep incline in first gear for a period of time. Do you have the option to select first gear manuallyon the shifter? That would be my way around this.

if there is a "Hold" button,u can use this also as it will stay in the current gear despite the rev meter is banging on the redline.

The ECU is programmed to automatically up shift if the driver doesn't do so after a certain point. On Mitsubishi vehicles equipped with a CVT, such as the Outlander, you have the ability to hold gears until the ECU prevents the engine from revving past a certain rpm. That being said, if you're climbing up a steep dune, 4HLc would be a better option instead of 4H IMHO. Hope this helps.

Default Pajero Gear Hold 2008 to 2011 [SOLVED]

****FINALLY SOLVED*** This is to update that the Mitsubishi Pajero Gear Hold Auto Upshift issue is now solved!

I had my Mitsubishi Gear Hold Programming done by www.speedecu.com

My Pajero now holds the gear up to around 6500 RPM without autoshifting to the next gear. This was done by programming the Pajero Gen 4 transmission to hold the selected gear in Sport Mode (Tip Tronic)

Full Pajero Tuning Packages which includes Gear Hold, Fast RPM Cut Off and much more can be found here:
