Default 3.0 and 3.5 difference

I'm buying a 2000 montero sport Saturday and adxoaccor to the VIN it has the 3.0 engine gowehow according to the owner it's a 3.5 is there any way to tell witch one I have by looking at the motor? Like a sticker with 6g72 or 6g74 or a casting number?

Here is a PDF of the Mitsubishi Engine types. It has a description where the engine Model and SN is stamped. Perhaps you will be able to see the numbers when looking at the vehicle. I'd trust the VIN number. From dealing with people with cars, half of them don't know what they got under the hood (unless they are crazy ones to do their own work on the vehicles )
