Default 93 montero high idle

I have a 93 Montero with the 3.0 v6. For some reason it Idles between 1200 and 2000 rpm. Has anyone else had this problem?

You might have a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum hoses and air intake boot connections. It is possible that MAF is dirty, but it is more likely to act up at load and not at idle. If all that is OK, then it may be IAC issues (if equipped).

I have cleaned out the MAF and the IAC. I looked at most of the Vacuum hoses but that doesn't mean that I didn't miss one

You can try to spray starter fluid around the intake manifold while the engine is running. If you get engine to suddenly rev up - you found a vacuum leak.

So I did that and there is not a sudden rev. Any other helpful ideas? This has been driving me crazy. I know that its not a huge deal since my truck is still running but I like to fix the little things

Does your truck have IAC (Idle Air Control) valve? I'd check that - disconnect the wire to it with the engine running. It IAC works properly, the engine should stumble. If you observe no changes -IAC (or wiring going to IAC) is the suspect.

Ok I will try that. Is there any chance of damage to the engine in doing this?

So I unplugged the IAC with the engine running. Absolutely nothing happened. the engine just kept running the same with no difference

Ok, check if there is voltage at the connector and good ground. If so your IAC is not working. If you don't have voltage (i believe it will be 5 v.) or ground you may have a wiring problem.
