96 Montero SR Front Wheel Assembly Questions..
Hello,
I have a couple of questions...I am a noob to the 4wd wheel assembly deal. But I have what probably be basic questions, and then a real good question.
1. Does the wheels on the Montero freely spin when assembled? I mean is there any resistance at any point while turning it by hand?
I have reassembled the rotors, the bearings, the hub and such. When I turn the wheel with my hand but there seems to be a point that it drags. IS that normal? If not what am I looking at?
2. Is it normal for the axle boot to rotate with the wheel.
3. OK, I have everything assembled according the diagram. However, when I go to place the snap ring in place I am a little sliver shy of clearance for it to sit in the groove. I can't figure out what is keeping it from seating. The only thing that I can think it could be is the rear bearing seal. Every other part goes on only one way. It's pretty cut and dry. So what am I not seeing to get the sliver of clearance I need?
4. The rear bearing seal has a rubber side and a side that has a metal ring in it. Which side faces the wheel.
Thanks for your help!
