Default 98 Monero Clicking Sound Drivers Dash

New owner of a 98 Montero and need Help. Recently a clicking sound has randomly appeared under the driver's side dash. Sounds similiar to an electrical relay of some sort. I recently had the ignition switch changed but not sure if that caused anything. Anyone had this before? Common issue with Montero? I am slowly finding the issue with Mitsubishi.

Does the sound appear while, or after braking?
Not sure about the Gen II, but the Gen III has a brake boast accumulator that makes a 'clicking' noise when it's going bad. It was a factory recall for my Gen. III.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. I have been trying to get it to repeat itself. Sometimes it won't click at all. Doesn't seem to be when I brake or afterwards but it is hard to re-create. I will take a look at which Gen I have and then go from there. If I give the Vin to the dealer they should know which Gen it is.

Your rig is a Gen II.
Check your FSM to see if it has a brake boost accumulator.
If you don't have a FSM, you can find one in PDF on the following site:

Good Luck
