Default A/C inoperative

A/C ceased funcitoning yeserday 5 seconds after I moved the selector from outside air to recirc. No fan, nothing. I suspect a relay as I have checked all fuses and fusible links and none are blown. My fuse/relay box under the hood of the 97 Montero LS has not diagram showing which relays do what(washed off when I washed the engine some time ago) and the owner's manual shows me nothing, either. It's too hot here for me to spend much time diagnosing. Can someone tell me which relay is which from their diagram information? Thanks.

Yep, I have a similar issue with my 2001 Monterro Sport. My ac comes on, compressor engages, but no fan. I checkked all the fuses, looks good. I suspect either the blower fan or possibly a relay. Does your ac compressor engage when turn the ac on?

I had the same problem in my 97 SR and it was the switch for the fan. But my blower motor shorted out and it killed my switch so i had to change the blower motor and the air volume switch. The dealer wanted $245 for the blower motor and i went to the local parts store and bought one for $35! I hope this helps.
