Default Can't find Freewheel clutch solenoid on 03

Hello all

does anybody know where the Vacuum Control Switch Solenoid Valve (like the one in the picture) is on a 2003 Montero Sport with AWD???
I've tried to located underneath the air box but im not seeing it and was wondering if there was another location for it?
The problem im having is that when i shift it into AWD its like it does not fully engage, like its slipping really bad theirs also a grinding noise but it does move slowly and if its in park and on an incline it will roll.
If i shift it to 4Hi or 4Lo everything engages and it operates like its supposed to.
the mechanic says I need a new transfer case
any ideas or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated
