Call yor local Mitsu Dealer service dept...Give them your VIN and they will check to see if that freewheel switch is on recall.I do believe it has a recall...Have seen many changed here at the dealership.

Default RE: Freewheel switch leaking

There IS NOT recall for this part. But there is a TSB issue by Mitsu involving an updated part. You can purchase the updated part and replace it yourself as it is NOT that complicated of a procedure. If you switch the old part and new part fast enough, you won't even loose no more than a couple of tablespoons of gear oil. No need to drain 1st. Depending on when you purchased you Montero, you might still be covered under warranty.....
Good luck!
