Question Converting 2wd to 4x4???

Hey guys so I decided to stay with my project truck and wanted to do something crazy. I want to convert my 01 montero sport 2wd to 4x4 drive. Has anyone done this before? I kind of have a general idea what needs to get done. Need to get the transfer case, front axle and drive shaft but I wanted guidance if any one has done it. Tips/Hints?

I believe your Montero Sport has independent front suspension in the 4x4 model. I'm not sure if the 4x4 and 2x4 share the same front suspension. My guess is they are different. I think it may be easier to convert it to a 4x4 with a solid front axle.
