Default Electrical Issue

Hi, I am new to the forums and having a serious problem with my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Its a 2 wheel drive with V-6 3.0L engine.

Three weeks ago, the alternator went out so I replaced it. Yesterday, the battery went out so again, I replaced it.

Engine starts up fine, idles good for about 5 minutes until it starts getting warmed up then the idle drops and won't stay running unless I rev the engine to 1000 rpm or higher. However, after a while that doesn't even work and the battery won't have enough cranking power to start it.

I took the alternator off and battery out, took both to the part store and got them checked and both are good but the battery is not getting the charge from the alternator. I have checked fuses and am now at a loss on where to go from here.

Has anyone else had this problem or can you make suggestions? I am completely lost on this. I am a single parent on a very limited income so tolling the auto to the dealership or a mechanic and having them fix it is not an option for me. I would greatly appreciate some help here.

Thank you,
