Default Fan blades melting

Hi,

I have 2002 XLS Sport and traced a noise to the casing of the fan to be rubbing on the blades of the fan, melting the fan blades and casing. See first picture here. Problem was casing holder had cracked, so resolved by drilling a hole and threading a wire through casing and surrounding metal frame (see second picture here).

Question is : will leaving the casing & fan like this be Ok, or lead to other issues? The fan has about 1 inch of the blades melted away.
