ignition coil keeps bubbling up and then melting
i have a 2002 mitsubishi eclipse gs. i must have replaced the ignition coil three times aready.
i put in new ignition wires and spark plugs but the ignition coil still seems to start bubbling up on one side and then start melting and then just looks cracked and starts to smoke kind of. what is causing this to happen and what should i replace or add to help stop these incidents with my ignition coils.

RE: ignition coil keeps bubbling up and then melting
I'd check with your car's electric diagram to see if there's a resistor in series with the primary winding of the ignition coil.
Looks like the resistor is missing.
There was a similar post I replied to on the same problem.
Good luck finding it out.
