First Post - For A 1987
HI, and thank you!
I have a 1987 Dodge Raider (imported by dodge from mitsubishi)
It is 4 cylinder
And every winter, when the temp gets to 0F, the car drives for 5 or so miles, then stops and dies.
Then after 30 minutes, the car starts up again, and drives like nothing has happened. In between, for those 30 minutes, the car seems to try to start, and sounds like the engine is flooded. THen finally, it catches.
I've taken the car to 3 mechanics
one said that the catalyitic converter was blocked, and they replaced the catalytic converter
another one said that the oxygen sensor was plugged, and they said that they replaced the oxygen sensor
most recently, another mechanic said that a vacuum valve was faulty, and they replaced the vacuum hose
the fuel pump has also been replaced
nothing else has been loooked at, like heat sensor, etc.
so any help you can give me is appreciated
it's a great car otherwise, but only gets 10mpg
thank you for your suggestions !!!
