Default Gen 3, 2001 Montero XLS front wheel stud

Anyone know how easy or a pain the front wheel stud is to replace on 2001 full size Montero XLS?

Do I need to remove more than the brake rotor and brake caliper, and knock broken stud out with a hammer?

Had one break when removing old wheel to swap on snow tires. I have the new stud and a hand full of washers to pull the stud into the hub. I have to do this in my driveway.

Thanks!

Never had to do this on my Monty, but I think a hammer approach is a bad idea. You might damage the front hub bearing by whacking at the broken stud. They do make wheel stud removal presses. See if you can rent one from an auto parts store. You can also use a large C-clamp and socket that will fit over the head of the stud to press it out.
