Default Won't start in cold

2000 Montero w/3.5 Did some work where I disconnected the battery, now it has trouble starting. Just turns over and doesn't fire. Maybe one hiccup every once in a while (so I know it has spark). Won't start outside where its 15F. If I tow it into a garage and blast a kerosene heater on it for half a day it starts. But requires accelerator pedal and I have to feather it for the first 15 seconds or so and the computer gradually figures out the idle. Then it seems to start fine until I let it cool completely down in the winter cold, then it doesn't start at all and I have to repeat towing it into the garage. I've done the long idle relearn process described on here where you disconnect battery and let it sit, then reconnect and put on acc for 20 seconds, then start (but it doesn't start unless in the garage and kerosene heater warmed it up to room temp), and let idle for 15 minutes then 3 minutes in drive etc.... I did it to completion and drove it after but after all that it still won't start when it gets very cold. It started fine before. It runs fine now if I can get it started. I even took the throttle blade assembly out and cleaned the IAC (which wasn't really dirty). Didn't make any difference. Any ideas?
