05 Outlander rear hatch handle sticks won't release! rear door won't open/close

All the electronics work for my 05 Outlander however the rear hatch handle when pressed stays down instead of spring back so I can't re-open the rear hatch. I need to get a tool to pull the handle back into position to open the rear hatch rear door.

What part would I need to purchase to repair this. I don't want to purchase a part that is not required only th part that will allow the handle to spring back into its original position.

I had this problem, but not with the handle sticking.
Have you tried WD40 in the key lock? that's all it took for the remote to open my rear hatch..

Has nothing to do with sticking due to lack of lubrication. The sling in the handle mechanism appears to be shot. Thanks anyway
