Question has my Montero a short term memory for my remote key

Hey all,

I have a problem with my remote that is driving me nuts:

-I purchased a new remote from an aftermarket supplier
-was able to program, remote worked a few days
-remote stopped working, I got a new one as replacement, battery fresh
-I tried troubleshooting the montero, some fuses are not working but I don't think, they have to so with it, because:
- I suspected the cable that pulls and opens the hood (engine) to rub against some fuses and/or relays and causing a bad contact, I pushed all fuses in, relais too
-don't know what fixed it but after a few days was able to program (new) remote again, which then worked for about two days
-remote stopped working today
-I think within the two days, I didn't pop the hood, so I don't think it is that cable

??Question: What can cause the car to "forget" the remote so quickly??
Both times, I guess as the remote stopped working, it was over night, so in the evening it was still working fine, this morning not any more...

Any help much appreciated, thanks.
Sebastian
