How much.... Montero Sport XLS???
Hi, I have a quick question for you all, a friend of mine want's to sell his mom car, a 2002 Montero Sport XLS, 3.5L V6, 91000miles, 2 new tires, timing belt and spark plugs never changed and check engine soonlight on due to an oxygen sensor he said, now I want toask youhow much should i pay for this car to make a good deal??? He is asking 6000$ I want to give him 5500$ to have some money left for that O2 sensor...Thx, Adrian
Hi,I wish I could get mine for the same amount but, unfortunately I already paid 6000$... Now my problem is the service soon engine light that is on, I went at Autozone and they found six errors (P0174, P0154, P0442 and something about IAT, O2 sensors and "lean" motor), they advice me to replace only the IAT sensor and check the O2 sensor after that, because the malfunction of the IAT could trigger the bad O2 reading...I tried to find the IAT sensor but only the dealer carries it. Does anybody has any idea were is located??? The previous owner said if I disconnect the ground the computer will reset and the light will go off, after that if I will use only high octane gas 93, 94 the light will stay off but if I will use cheap gas again, 87, the light will come on... What should I do now??? I don't want to go to a dealer, I am positive they will charge me a lot of money for this job...
Gee, I wish I could have paid only $6,000 for my Sport...
P0174....System too Lean (Bank 2)
P0154....O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
P0442....Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)
I havn't heard of the IAT sensor, do you know what code was related to that? I have heard of the IAC (idle air control)valve, but I am not sure about a sensor related to it. The P0442CAN be caused from a loose/rotted gas cap seal.
