So yesterday I bought a 96 Montero LS for $1k that had a misfire and stutter. I solved the misfire with a new spark plug and spark plug wire and the stutter went away too. I drove it for about 30 mins and then in the middle of driving it, it stalled out. I could get it restarted, but if you try to put it in gear it would just immediately die. After letting it sit for a couple hours and letting it cool down, you could restart it, put it in gear and drive it, but the problem would come back once it was warmed up.. Any ideas? I read somewhere that it could be the torque convert and torque converter solenoid.. anybody have any ideas? Where to start?
