instrument lights and other things out
Hello All,
Thanks and much appreciation in advance for any help you can provide.
I recently took my 99 Montero Sport XLS 3.0 in to get looked at because coolant was being blown into the cabin. It turned out to be a bad heater core and that was fixed. However now my instrument lights are out (blinker, gear selection lights, and status lights still work) as well the rest of the dash lights (AC controls etc).
Other things that are wrong are:
-car car horn does not sound when i set it the alarm
-no alarm sounds when I purposefully set off the alarm
-there's no warning chime when I leave my headlights on
-the rear defrost switch won't set but I hear a clicking
I've tried to research it as much as I could but the only thing I can find on the web is something about a rheostat? I've checked and made sure all my fuses are still good if that helps any.
Thanks for your time!

RE: instrument lights and other things out
It's quite likely that your heater core issue created a number of other problems by shorting out either an electrical wiring harness connector/component or two. I'd have a competent mechanic (not necessarily a dealer mechanic) break out the factory schematic's and do some electrical troubleshooting to find the common connector(s) and check them for coolant residue.
