Hey all, just signed up, so forgive me if I post in wrong place.

I just ordered a new black grille and need to find a white namebadge that goes on grille..any ideas or help?

Also, took to shot, right rear cylinder is dead, cylinder has good compression (stuck closed) swaped plug & wires, still missing. Suspect lifters failed (ticking noise) noise coming from left valve cover.

Estimate is $600 to fix, would I be better swapping for refurbed engine?

any thoughts are apprecited!

You might try a few pick and pull yards for the "namebadge".
Otherwise, see if they have it at the below site:

I've heard that the valve guides are sometimes an issue with the Gen. II Monty.
Did you pull it apart yet to confirm the lifter, or is it an educated guess?
If you can do it yourself, I think it's less expensive to repair the problem than rebuilding the entire motor.

I searched EVERYWHERE on every site & somehow never found this site. They did indeed have the grille namebadge and the liftgate namebadge as well.

This completes the exterior plastic pieces I needed to replace/update.

Spoke too soon, he just called back...they don't have it & can not get it!

 

Don't know whats going on, but after being told they didn't have them...I got an email today w/ a tracking number for the namebadge? Guess we'll see what happens.

In the meantime I spent 2 hours cruising Ebay and found a pick & pull yard 30 minutes from home with the grill & namebadge...picked up today for $25.00 (grill, namebadge, 3 star emblem & v6 emblem)

On line at parts stores that adds up to $300...so saved $275.00...pure luck to find them AND they were so close.

On repairs, definately a lifter, also fuel injector wiring harnes severely corrodid. Found one at same yard for $15.00 in perfect shape!

 

I have a Montero 1986. I have no idea if this would be suitable for you, but it runs.

 

Motor and everything runs good, just replacing plastic pieces on exterior now. Need rear door/gate black cover that covers license plate lights and door handle
