Hi, new to the forum and hope to learn quite a bit...

Currently, Iam looking for the location of the Keyless Entry "Transponder" ??? I think this is the correct. What I am looking for is the location of the item that receives the signal from the keyless remote to unlock the doors. Ours has stopped working.

Can you be specific about the vehicle? Montero or Montero Sport, and model year? Thanks.

 

Yes, 1996 Montero LS (non-sport)

 

On my 99 full size Montero it's behind and above the left front dash speaker (by your left knee) In fact in order to change the speaker I had to unplug it. It's a black box a bit larger than a deck of cards with a telltale thin white wire hanging from it (the antenna) Hope this helps.
