Mitsubishi2004 Montero. grinding sound
NEED HELP! I have a 04 Montero that started making a grinding sound coming from the front of my ride. When I come to a stop there is a pop sound like something is going back in place. does anyone know what it could be???

Several possibilities:
1. A failed 4wd solenoid. It allows the front axle sleeve to move and to accidentally engage 4wd.
2. A bad CV joints on front axle.
3. Some issue with brake (stuck caliper).
4. Hub bearing.
I'd check those three areas and see if you can narrow it down.
