Default Montero 2001 vs. 02-06: What's the truth about legroom?

Quick question for current Montero owners from someone looking to buy the right one in the coming months...

Edmunds and other sites spec the 2001 Montero as having 37.6" second row legroom, and 19.4" for the third row.

The legroom specs change for the following 2002-06 model years, with the second row shrinking to 35.2", and the third row expanding to 25.2".

Is there indeed a difference? I don't have 2001 vs. 2002 models nearby to see for myself.

Thanks!

Hmmmm I have never looked into this. I can say this for all 3rd gen monteros. No adult is going to fit comfortable in the 3rd row...thats if they can even fit at all. My 12 year old daughter who is about 5ft tall and 90 pounds complains everytime she has to ride back there.

I know your looking probably for overall length and differences between the 2001 vs 2002 and on, I say this...your probably not gonna sit in the back seat very often if your the owner so I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Cheers!

The 2nd row has plenty of room for even big adults.

It is the 3rd row as mentioned that is very limited. If only the 2nd row had sliding chairs like new cars, even sliding slightly forward could make the 3rd row fine.

Just consider the Montero a 6 seater. 1 person can fit comfortable in the 3rd row. SITTING SIDEWAYS.
