Christo.......Excellent that you found the problem, and was willing to over-rule your shop guys who doubted putting on the used 6 ball CV axles. Wish I had thought about this 3 vs 6 ball issue, as I just ordered 2 sets of complete CV axles to have on hand "just in case", and I did not check to see if they were 3 or 6 ball. DOH!!!!
Thanks for giving us an update.

Christo......I just checked my Rock Auto order, and I got lucky on the CV set for my 94 Montero SR (3.5), as that brand does have 6 ball bearings.....brand is Surtrack.
However, the set from another maker (APWI) for my 94 Monty 3.0 does not say in the tech info if they are 3 or 6 *****.......cost about the same as Surtrack......from $40 to $45 for the complete CV axle. I would like to know if they are 3 or 6 *****, but dont want to peel back the boots and that darn clamp to find out.

Great info. You can try to contact manufacturer of the other brand and see what they say as far as 3/6 *****.

Hunter......The mfg. is probably located down one of those side alleys in WooHann, Chinna........and no sprekin Engleeeesh. Maybe I can ask flu doc Falsie Foulchie who knows WooHann well, as he sent that lab 9,000,000 to fund creation of this franken-virus.

Well even in those back alleys they can count to San (three) or Liu (six). You should be able to Google translate the answer. 😁
As far as Dr. Fauchi - c'mon man. I trust a word of doctor and a scientist over the word of a "businessman" any day.

Hunter......As Homer would say, "DOHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
ha ha
If I fuss and complain too much about these CV joints, they may decide to send me sets with only 1 ball bearing next time.......force me to start buying used OEM CV joints off eBay.
