I've got a 1998 Montero Sport, 3.5L. I have access to a 5-speed auto that I think is out of a 2000 or 2001. The car has a 4-speed auto 4x4. Is it possible to use the 5-speed auto in the 98? In short, can the V5A51 go into a montero that had an A340F (The most likely model of the transmissions)?
I've only identified the transmissions using online research and a little bit of physical comparison. Is there a way to for sure identify the exact model of each?

As far as I can see, they have the same bell housing bolt pattern. what I've noticed is different is the condenser lines, as well as the shifter on the trans itself and the wire that goes into the valve body. I haven't had time to compare the solenoids to check if they are the same or different in any way. In this, I would imagine that the wiring harness is different, therefore making the computer not compatible.

Furthermore, to my understanding, the transfer case should work just fine. The trans and transfer have the same mounts in both models.
