Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

Default New 2002 Montero Limited Owner

Hello all. Just got mine a few weeks ago after months of researching for a nice reliable and CHEAP 4x4. This car had some stellar reviews and I got extremely lucky (at least I hope!) when the dealer botched the Craigslist listing (and probably got only a few online queries). On top of that, it had 2 bad tensioner pulleys that made a ton of noise that probably scared off a lot of potential buyers. Anyway, looking forward to at least a few years out of her as my fishing/dog carrying/lumber hauler.

Congrats on your purchase. You are in the right place to find answers and help. If you run into any issues, the best thing is to first read through the existing posts. Most likely any issues you are going to have, had happened before and you can find solutions for them here.
Word of advice - don't go throwing parts at this vehicle blindly. Understand what you are doing first. Almost any part that is OEM on your Montero (from 2002) will be a better quality part than any Autozone, O"Reilly or other aftermarket part you are going to put on it. Make sure you need to replace the Mitsubishi part first before doing so.

As far as fishing/dog carrying/lumber hauler - it's a perfect vehicle for that Don't forget to find a mud puddle and a hill to crawl around - you'll enjoy it.

Just checking in. Vehicle has been great, I've got about 3K on it. Really happy with the purchase. Just goes to show, doing your research on a vehicle pays off. I'll post pics later.
