Default No engine light cant communicate with obd2

Okay.so my 2003 montero sport 3.5 with 125k died on the highway and i had it towed home. I try to pull codes and cant connect. In fact theres no engine light at all.
I get no spark from any coil and pulled a plug to check for compression which is good and the plug smells of gas.
Ive heard that it could be a fuse for the obd2 but all fuses i checked in and out are good. I sent the computer out to a repair service who told me the ecu is
beyond repair. bought a used one on ebay installed it and still no engine light and still cant communicate. pulling out whats left of my hair.
This car owes me nothing as i paid 800 for it about 4 years ago. but it kills me to junk it for what i think is probably an easy fix.
Any help with any of the problems ive described would be appreciated.
And yes ive searched till im blue in the face and i never seem to find an appropriate answer. Namely the exact location of the fuse for the obd2. Please HELP!!!!

Before I even read all the way to the end my guess was - PCM (ECU) gone bad. What's strange that a "new" used replacement is acting the same way. Did you have your car jumped when it died? By any chance did polarity got reversed? Are you getting ANY power from the battery to anywhere in the vehicle?
BTW, depending on where you are on this continent, I'd take it off your hands... PM me if interested.

I had a very similar problem with my 2001 Sport.

Ended up being a $4.00 Fusible Link, the main 100 amp one. It looked fine, but as I was pulling all of them out and checking them one by one, when I got to that one it fell apart. Popped a new one it and it fired right up and everything worked.

It's worth taking a look at!

Looks like the original poster is another one post wonder. Joined, posted once, and never returned...

Sad that this happens and they don't return to enlighten us after they have asked for help which is freely given.
