So I replaced my front struts, bushings, lower control arms, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar bushings and links, and inner and outer tie rods recently on my 2001 Mitsubishi montero limited (185,000 miles)and yet, I am still hearing noises periodically under the front when turning the car at slow speeds.. the sound is like a clunk but not most of the time.

question: is this normal? Should it be completely quiet? Is this a case of new parts just breaking in?

any help, opinions and advice is much appreciated.

 

Definitely NOT normal. Item #1 to check - make sure all bolts and nuts got torqued properly. You're suppose to do final torque to spec with vehicle on the ground (suspension loaded). If all those things check out, then the prime suspect would be CV joints at the hubs (sound occurs when turning).
