Default od gear light gone

Hey Guys,

You know the green light that frames the Park, reverse, drive 3 ,2 , low, gear selector in the dash, between the speed and tachometer? Well mine lights up for all except when you put in 'D'. It worked before, only noticed it yesterday. All the other gears light up.

Does this mean the bulb is blown? How do you change that out?

The transmission works the same as always.

I am just assuming by your description that it is either a 95,96,97,98 Montero and yes it is just the bulb. I had this happen and the bulb is like $1.23. Allyou dois you take off that cover near the window ontheshroud ofthe instrumentcluster and then you take out the Phillips head screw and then you take off the cover. With the cover off you may have to take out the screws for the cluster and lean it towards you and the bulb twist out then twist the new one back in and then put it back together in reverse order.

Probably the same. The D bulb always burns out first because it's on the most. You can save yourself the trip to the dealer and the 2 bucks by swapping out the bulb for 2, which almost never gets used. I did this on my '99. I figure if I was driving in 2nd gear I wouldn't need a lamp to remind me.
