Default OFF ROAD CAPABILITY

What do you guys feel about the capability off the beaten path of the 2k and newer Montero Sport in stock fashion with exception of tires. I have had an 04 S10 blazer and 00 Jeep Wrangler both in 4x4 with really only AT or MT tires. How should this compare. How about on the pavement? I have heard mixed reviews so I'm looking for a little input.
Thanks

I traded in my 95 Jeep Wrangler when I bought my 2K Montero Sport. I put this 4x4 through its paces and I have not had any problems. The stock tires are terrible so I put Yokohama Geolander AT II on it and they are great in the mud and snow.

3.0 or 3.5? Any problems with low end torque digging you out?
