Ok- so no one seems to be able to chime in on the wiring question I had--- so, let me ask this. To install the aux gauge pod in my 1991 Montero, do I need to get an auxillary wiring harness? or did the trucks come with them already installed(even if the truck did not have the gauges)?

I cant say yes or no cause i'm not familiar with your model. But I can provide the fsm link that will hopefully lead you in the right direction.
