Oxygen sensor question here?
This is the second year in a row that I need to replace my Oxygen sensor. I have a 2001 Mits Montero Limited. And it cost me $500 a pop. Is there anyone here know how to replace it or a link (site) where I could read more about it and maybe I can do it myself. HELP!!! Currently, my "service engine soon" light is on and its been lit up for 5 days now. Usually, it reset itself after the 2nd day. It goes back on again if I drive more that 100 miles in one trip. Any suggestions out there???

A common problem on our model (mine is a 2002) is that the rear cam seals are crap and they leak right on your o2 sensor messing it up. next time you replace the sensor, have them do this because it won't cost much more.

Unfortunately, there's a TSB that requires a PCM reflash AND the replacement of ALL 4 02 Sensors on the vehicle (requiring a specific DTC). It would be best if you had this done all in one shot. There's a chance that whomever is servicing your vehicle may not know about this TSB and is just replacing them as each check engine light appears.

I am having the same problem. I've learned to ignore it. When I have to take the truck in for inspection I reset the computer. I know this doen't help and I hope some one knows how to fix this, I just wanted you to know you are not alone. [sm=smiley20.gif]
WOW! 5 posts while I was typing my one. [sm=jawdrop.gif]

The TSB i was referring to only involved the Montero- NOT the Montero Sport. It only involves certain model years as well which i believe is the introductory 2001 models.
