Problems manually shifting RND32L in my driveway
2001 montero sport w 4x4
Heres the shifting console ,for reference PRND32L
1- P >D the vehicle and didnt to move fwd.
2- When in R the vehicle backs up as expected
* 3- when I shift it into N it also backs the vehice up
* 4 -When I shift through each: 3,2,L in any direction there is no movement
Heres how it happened and sounded like
I was in my driveway and when I shifted from Park to Drive, the vehicle moved fwd about 2 ft then made a noise ,kinda like I would expect if I had left something in front or under it .Thats the best I can do trying to describe a sound. No scraping, but a thump, bang, or somewhere inbetween

the AT was too low. Been runing fine afterward...so far 100 miles no issues. Loos like Ive got a slow leak on the dip stick tune. It looks like a two piece unit and is about half way down the tubes length. Access it through the wheelwell and remove mud splash panel I think.Anyone ever had this issue.?
NEVER had anything like that in any auto trans vehicle..it now runs the same as before That suprises me.
