Rear suspension alignment problem
Hi everyone. I just purchased a 2003 limited with 118k miles. I love it! I am fixing needed items. One of those items was the alignment on the rear. It had frozen toe/camber bolts. The mechanic replaced control arms and bolts and did a complete alignment. I also replaced the worn tires. Now when I accelerate past a certain point, roughly between 40 and 55mph, the back end tends to jump to one side. I'm wondering if the mechanic aligned it properly, or is there something else going on. Are there special alignment procedures for the Limited that the mechanic might not know about?
The front suspension is in good shape...a-arms and bushings are good. The mechanic rechecked the alignment and it is still within tolerances (no changes since primary alignment). It seems as though the only time the back end jumps as described, is when it is changing from 4th to 5th gear.
I discovered one more thing. The back end jumps when driveline torque is released. I accelerate through all the gears using the manual shift (sports mode) function. After I shift into 5th, I release the gas pedal and that's when the back end jumps.
